All you need to know about the trending Boucle fabric.

Boucle, a trending word in the furniture market, has its roots in the weaving tradition of France. Often made with wool it  is used in  garments particularly outerwear. Due  to its warmth and texture Fabric got its fame when in 1920 Coco Channel  endorsed it.

Boucle has a distinct , nubby texture created by a unique weaving method. It involves weaving two types of yarns together: one which is smoother and the other is thicker, creating the characteristic loops. or irregular texture.Nowadays we see it being used as a furnishing material.

The markets are filled with different types of boucle to mention a few. You can find:

  1. Wool Boucle  has a soft, nubby, and bumpy texture that provides warmth and a rich, tactile feel.

Uses: Works particularly well with rounded plush sofas.

2.Cotton Boucle: Cotton bouclé tends to have a lighter, softer texture with a less dense loop compared to wool bouclé. It can be a bit smoother while still maintaining its characteristic nubbiness.

Uses: This can be used for regular straight line sofas specially in hot and humid areas.

3.Silk Bouclé ,Silk bouclé is soft and lightweight but still retains the bumpy, textured appearance of bouclé fabric.

Uses: I would definitely pick this up for an accent chair or for the bed of a bedroom that has less paneling on walls.

4.Tweed Bouclé, most trending amongst all. The texture of tweed bouclé has a more pronounced, rustic, and uneven surface than regular bouclé, often with multi-colored fibers woven into the mix.

Uses : It is to be used in organic soft curve plushy furniture pieces. But be sure that you don't use it on all pieces in the room, it should be used on pieces which you would like to highlight

Each type of boucle has its own unique characteristics. I suggest keeping the manufacturing quality  in mind when using this fabric in chunky and rounded furniture pieces. The join line of this fabric is not designed for delicate stitching.

Quick styling tip : You can get a bunch of cushions in this fabric to spruce up your existing sofa set!!
